This year will be my 4th annual Ride for Roswell! I've truly enjoyed this event and everything it has to offer each year. This year, I will be riding the 20 mile River Route.
I have some history with Roswell Park. In July 2015 I underwent a total thyroidectomy after having been diagnosed with thyroid cancer coincidentially right around my 30th birthday. Hearing someone tell me I had cancer after living what I felt was a healthy lifestyle without any major health complications to that point was not only a shock, but also a gentle reminder that no one is "immune" to a diagnosis. Through the stellar treatment I received at Roswell Park and from support of my friends and family, I have been able to maintain an active lifestyle and currently remain in remission. That being said, by no means am I "in the clear", as my diagnosis requires life-long changes, medication, and monitoring.
Being a patient at Roswell has opened my eyes to so much in the realm of cancer; some people are not nearly as fortunate as I have been. I hope even those who were not able to recover have found comfort in the care they received from Roswell. I'm so very grateful to have Roswell Park as my primary treatment provider as well as in my backyard.
I hope that you can support me on my journey to raise funds to reasearch and treatment for all those affected by cancer. Funds raised through The Ride support cutting-edge research and compassionate, innovative patient care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
