This year I'll be riding 34 miles to raise money for cancer research in the 24nd annual Ride for Roswell on Saturday, June 22nd. Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, located 1-1/2 miles from my friary, is world famous and was recently ranked the second most technologically advanced cancer center in the world.
Many of you supported me as I rode the last four years, and I hope you will feel moved to support me this year as I bike 34 miles through the countryside on my 47-year old Schwinn Continental.
I am once again a member of the team named Fighting Irish Fighting Cancer, composed of Notre Dame alumni and friends. If you are interested in riding let me know and I can help you sign up. There are many routes from three miles up to 102! My goal is to raise $50 per mile that I ride, which works out to $1,700, and our team goal is $25,000. All in all 8,000 riders are hoping to raise over $5 million. Any support you give me or any other rider will help.
We've all lost family members or friends to cancer, but we all probably know someone who has beat cancer, thanks in large part to research at places like Roswell.
If you want me to remember and pray for someone affected by cancer while I ride, please let me know. I carry with me a list of all the names submitted to me.
Thank you for your generosity!
