Everyone needs to be given a chance to live, and to live joyfully!
Just before Christmas I lost a good friend to prostate cancer. He gave me a wonderful present before he passed away - a reminder that life is AWESOME - a wonderful gift that must be fought for and enjoyed until the very last minute.
You see, I was able to speak to him 20 minutes before he went into a coma, and even in those last minutes - when he was exhausted and looked like he had been living in a concentration camp- his eyes radiated his amazing "sparkle of life"!
Cancer did NOT beat him. He enjoyed his life every possible minute and he used up every bit of life his body had to give.
Obviously his body suffered a lot and he had to fight hard this last decade, but my friend always held onto his positive attitude. He was able to find joy in even the simplest of activities - like placing a single tomatoe plant in the garden or reading a card from a friend.
My friend was able to keep his sparkle for so long because of God, his family and friends, and especially because of the wonderful people and treatments available to him at Roswell Park. I know that without Roswell he would have had a much lower quality of life and he would not have been able to share his life with us for this long.
Obviously we need to support Rowsell so that everyone can be cured of these horrible cancer diseases, but even more importantly - we need to support Roswell so that all of the people who have to fight can do it more comfortably. Cancer fighters need to be able to enjoy every moment of the life they have left to share with their family and friends.
Once again this year, I am riding for Roswell and I am asking for your financial support to help them continue to do what they do best.
This fundraiser is for everyone of your friends and neighbors who are hoping for a cure and are fighting to keep their sparkle! This fundraiser is an opportunity for you to help give every cancer patient a chance to keep his or her light shining as long as possible!
Please share what you can...and maybe even cut back a bit on life's "little luxuries" so you can give a bit more! Your generousity and your prayers mean a lot to so many adults, teenagers and children. Thank you for your continued support, and may GOD bless you.
To quote my friend "You're AWESOME"!
