This is the fourtenth year I will be participating in the Ride for Roswell. Riding as part of the Fighting Irish Fighting Cancer team reminds me of the ideals of community service I learned many years ago at Notre Dame. During my adult years I have lost many family and friends, much too young to cancer. These tragedies started with Karen Romanowicz and Don Sperrazza. They have continued with the deaths of my brother Vic, John Cardarelli, Juli Nowak, Ida Rich, Sheila Martinec, Lenny Neureuther and most recently Kathy Wieczkowski and Sue Nikiel. I have also been lucky since many friends including my Fighting Irish Fighting Cancer teammates Rita Bailey, Lori Runk and Steve Lamantia are cancer survivors. This year I am also riding in honor of these cancer battlers: Kathleen Betsko Yale, Dianne Riordan, Barbara Faust, Marie-Elana Leone, Carol Pasiecznik, Fortunato Pezzimenti, Ken Rogers and Marie Zafron. With your support of my Ride perhaps a cure for this dreaded disease will happen sooner rather than later. Thank you for your support.
