On Thursday, May 24th, the long hair I've had for the past couple years is coming off! Why? I'll be participating in a fundraising event called Goin' Bald for Bucks, which raises critically needed funds for teen and young adult programs at 13thirty Cancer Connect as well as cutting-edge cancer research and compassionate, innovative patient-care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Although I won't be going completely bald, the electric clippers will be the tool of choice, as the curly golden locks will be coming off. For me, the choice to do this has taken on a serious tone. My grandfather died of cancer many years ago, and now more recently, my mother has been diagnosed with multiply myeloma, cancer of the body's plasma cells impacting the immune system. So in honor of my mother (who never was a big fan of my long hair anyway!), I'll be trimming the dome in an effort to reach my goal of personally raising $700. You can help me make a difference by supporting my efforts in Goin’ Bald for Bucks. Please consider making a donation today. No donation is too small, and every dollar adds up to something greater than any one of us could accomplish alone.
